Alma Vii 104

About the house

This is a traditional Transylvanian house, built in the 19th century, its name keeping alive the memory of the last owner – Walter Denghel. Located in the village center, directly across from the medieval church, the two bedroom house is a way to experience local life at its best.

The lovely vine-covered courtyard recalls a time long ago, when all villagers made their own homemade wine, to be shared at family meals, town events, and communal gatherings.

The “Walter” guesthouse in Alma Vii

From the front bedroom of the house there’s a wonderful view of the church: especially at night when this medieval bastion – like an engraving from a fairy tale – is illuminated by the fading light, as the sunset drops behind the wooded Carpathians. Or you can sit back on the terrace, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee, or a cup of tea made from locally-grown herbs and spices.

The host of the guesthouse, Simona Iacob, will pamper you with mouth-watering dishes, following local cooking traditions and using only natural produce. Please be aware that there is no mobile network coverage in Alma Vii. Also, please take into account that only tap water is available and may not be suitable for drinking at all times.

If you reserve this house, you will have the entire house and yard to yourself, regardless of the number of persons in your group.

House address: 104 Main Street, Alma Vii

House facilities: one bedroom with double bed and private bathroom, living room, kitchen, terrace, parking space. Please be informed that there is no mobile coverage in Alma Vii.  Please note that is best to drink the water your host brings to the house, rather than directly from the tap.

Who we are & what we believe in

This is a guest house owned and managed by the Mihai Eminescu Trust (MET). The MET is a non-profit organization that has 20 years of experience in heritage conservation and the regeneration of villages in Transylvania and Maramureș.

Experience Transylvania is the Foundation’s initiative for the development of cultural tourism and it consists of a network of over 20 traditional guesthouses scattered around beautiful villages such as: Mălâncrav, Florești, Richiș, Biertan, Alma Vii, Viscri, Criț or Breb.

We are here to support the local economy by involving villagers in the restoration and management of the houses and thus showing that, if well preserved, heritage can become a source of growth for the community. Our goal is to empower people and to assist them in creating a sustainable and healthy future, while preserving their cultural heritage and an authentic way of life.

While enjoying delightful local dishes and the peaceful village life, guests staying in our houses unknowingly support our work and are part of this success story. Thank you.
